“Ávila, living history and nature” I ‘Benjamín Palencia’ National Journalism Award from the Ávila Tourist Board

“Ávila, living history and nature “& nbsp; is the title of the report published in February 2007 in AireLibre magazine with which Mikel Prádanos ‘journalist has obtained the 1st National Journalism Prize & nbsp; ‘ Benjamín Palencia ‘& nbsp; & nbsp; Tourist Board of Ávila.

In the first edition of the award, instituted by the Provincial Council of Ávila promoting descriptive reports of the province and its journalistic quality, a report that runs through the most interesting corners of Ávila has triumphed, from the streets full of history of the city to the explosion of nature of the Sierra de Gredos, passing through the Iruelas valley and the Guisando bulls.

“Ávila, living history and nature “& nbsp; does not neglect other tourism possibilities, as it reviews the most important trails in the province and dedicates part of the content to the route of the Camino de Santiago that crosses Ávila.

The jury of the award, whose members had to decide the winner among the ten works presented, declared their objective of promoting all the scenic and gastronomic beauties of the towns of Ávila.

The National Prize for Journalism & nbsp; ‘Benjamín Palencia’ & nbsp; is named after the Albacete painter who spent a long period of his life in the Avila town of Villafranca de la Sierra, where the provincial corporation has converted the house where he lived in rural tourism accommodation.

This contest is one more step on the path taken towards the tourist revitalization of Ávila through a showcase and a landmark such as the rural house of Benjamín Palencia.
